A new study was released today by U.S. Public Interest Research Group (USPIRG) looking at how small businesses are coping – or not coping – with health care costs. The survey investigated the impact of health care costs on a couple hundred (347) small business owners or managers across the U.S. and next to employee salaries, health care costs are a huge part of the most small businesses’ overhead.
78% who do not offer coverage would like to offer it.
80% who would like to offer coverage cite cost as a barrier
17% who would like to offer coverage say that they do not offer coverage because it is too complicated
55% offering coverage do so to attract and retain good employees
27% offering coverage do so to increase worker productivity
24% felt that their interests were represented in the current health reform debate
The bottom line is that small businesses who do not currently offer coverage would overwhelmingly like to, but due to high costs and red tape, they cannot. But what if these same business owners had the luxury of a way to fund health care for their employees through accounts receivable factoring for small business?
