Originally it was a Dutchman named Adriaen Block who discovered the Connecticut Valley in 1614. By the year 1633, Windsor was the first permanent settlement in Connecticut, and  the Connecticut Colony was formed when it united with Wethersfield and Hartford.

The founder of Hartford, CT, Thomas Hooker, was a big believer in the will of the people and government, so by 1639, the Connecticut Colony adopted the Fundamental Orders as its law.  Connecticut became famous for its factories and immigrant workers during both World Wars, when the state's factories supplied  food, clothing, submarines, guns, and airplane parts.

East Hartland, Connecticut was incorporated in May 1761 as Hartland, Hartford County. The town is an area of 34.6 square miles and is situated about 22 miles from Hartford,and is bounded by Massachusetts on the North  and on thre East by Granby, while West is Colebrook and South by Barkhamstead.  It's  about seven miles long and five miles wide, and comprised of hills and mountains.                                                                                                                

Rich with history, back at the time when European exploration began, Connecticut was inhabited by  the Pequot tribe of Native American Algonquian Indians. The town offers many winter recreational activities such as skiing and sleigh-riding. Attractions in the area include the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art and the Mark Twain House.
