Boca Raton Invoice Factoring

Boca Raton was a 1903 a farming village with 18 people in 1903. Today there are 80,000 residents and another 120,000 in the community of “West Boca.” It’s the core of the south Palm Beach County metropolitan community, with gorgeous parks, and economic opportunities.

 

Boca Raton does not  mean simply Rat’s Mouth. Boca, or mouth, in Spanish, also describes an inlet, and the word raton literally means mouse. So the name was originally derived by a  reference to the town's rocky inlet. Ironically, the first location of Boca de Ratones was Biscayne Bay. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the term was accidentally applied to the current Lake Boca Raton, whose inlet was closed throughout most of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.  

 

The Tequesta Indians inhabited the community by the ocean for one thousand years until the eighteenth century when the pioneers discovered it thanks to the Florida East Coast Canal  and the Florida East Coast Railway during the 1890s. But by the 1900s Boca Raton had turned into an agricultural community, for pineapple cultivation. 

 

Boca Raton was incorporated in May 1925, which was the height of the land boom in Florida. It was architect Addison Mizner who planned a world-class resort community with a hotel,  which came to be known as the Cloister Inn, now a city landmark -- the Boca Raton Resort and Club. Although many of Mizner’s plans for the young community were squelched by the demise of the land boom in 1926, a few survive today—and his architectural style continues to flourish throughout  the city. He also designed the city hall for Boca Raton, which was actually completed by Delray architect William Alsmeyer in 1927.

 

In the 1930s and 40s, Boca was known for its winter vegetable crop, particularly the green beans which commanded a premium in northern markets. The War brought thousands of servicemen as well as families to the community which boasted a population of 723 in 1940.

 

The town hosted a safari park called Africa USA in the 1950's - and today it is the Camino Gardens development. The state university, Florida Atlantic, moved to the site of the old army airbase around 1962. IBM moved to Boca Raton in 1967, and during the 1960s, South Florida experienced another great land boom causing the population to go to almost 30,000 residents by 1970 and financial industries like invoice factoring to flourish.
