West Des Moines Invoice Factoring

Originally home to the Fox and Sac Indian tribes but a cattle farmer named James Cunningham Jordan chased them out of town in 1845 and established the Jordan House. Since restored this house is now home to the West Des Moines Historical Society. Early years found the town as a trading and shipping junction until 1893 when it was incorporated as the city of Valley Junction, home to the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad's switching facilities and repair shops.

The Depression years were especially difficult for workers of Valley Junction and the railroads finished pulling out by 1936. By 1937, only two trains stopped there, and members of the commercial club believed that changing the name of the city from an old-fashioned town to West Des Moines" would give he community the respectability it needed for a new image and new trade.  By the 1950's West Des Moines had a population of 5,615, and grew due to new housing subdivisions. Then the construction of three major Interstates: 35, I80, and Interstate 235 during the 1960s brought more people and businesses to West Des Moines. West Des Moines' population jumped from 11,964 in 1960 to 31,702 in 1990.

Today, West Des Moines is the tenth-largest city in the state of Iowa, and it ranked 94th in Money magazine's list of the "100 Best Places to Live and Launch" in 2008. It is one of Iowa's largest and wealthiest cities - one reason why factoring services are well supported - and one of Des Moines's richest suburbs.
